Real Madrid and Barcelona both want to sign RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo during next summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo during next summer's transfer window.

There was a host of speculation surrounding the 25-year-old's future during the recent market, but he signed a new deal with his German club at the start of June.

Olmo's contract is said to include a release clause of €60m (£51.8m), though, and he is expected to leave next summer despite only recently extending his deal.

According to Bild, the Spain international has already made up his mind over his future, and he is determined to force a transfer at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

The report claims that Olmo's first choice in terms of a new club is Barcelona, with the forward believing that he has unfinished business at Camp Nou, having left in 2014 after seven years in their youth system.

A move to Barcelona would be difficult due to the Catalan outfit's financial issues, though, and a number of other clubs are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

Real Madrid are believed to be admirers of the Spaniard and could make an attempt to sign him even though their main target for next summer is Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe.

Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be keeping a close eye on the situation with a view to submitting offers next summer.

Barcelona head coach Xavi is said to be determined to bring Olmo to Camp Nou, but any deal would depend on the club's financial situation, as they are also looking at the possibility of signing both Man City's Joao Cancelo and Atletico's Joao Felix on permanent deals.

Olmo made the move to Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020, and he has represented his German club on 127 occasions, scoring 26 goals and registering 30 assists in the process.

The Spaniard started this season in strong form, scoring five goals and registering one assist in his first four appearances, but he is currently on the sidelines with a knee problem.

Olmo has missed Leipzig's last seven games in all competitions with the issue, while he will also be absent for Spain's upcoming matches with Scotland and Norway.

The attacker is capable of operating in a number of different positions in the final third of the field, but he mainly plays off the left, where Felix is currently starting for Barcelona.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have changed formation this season and are currently playing with two narrow forwards ahead of a number 10 in the shape of Jude Bellingham.
