Cesc Fabregas insists he’s happy at Arsenal

Cesc Fabregas plays down rumours of a move to Barcelona.

Cesc Fabregas has said that he is happy at Arsenal and has made no plans to leave.

Spanish reports of a €40m (£35m) offer from Barca and an interview in which Bacary Sagna claimed the midfielder wants to return to his home side have reignited speculation that the Gunners captain may leave.

However, speaking in Madrid today Fabregas commented: “I am an Arsenal player. I won’t step forward and say I want to join Barca. After eight years at Arsenal, I won’t harm the club. That’s not my way of being. I have been very happy for eight years and I am very happy.”

The captain added that any decision to move would not be entirely his own, saying: “Arsene Wenger is the boss, the one who makes the decisions. You should ask him. I was injured at the end of the season and I haven’t seen him for about six weeks.”

The 24-year-old went on to admit his frustration at the lack of trophies in recent years, but added that he is confident that the club can rectify the situation in coming seasons.
