Everton are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy next summer, according to a report.

Everton have reportedly made a bid for Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Maitland-Niles spent the second half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion and does not appear to have much of a future at the Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta.

Crystal Palace, Burnley and Newcastle United have all been linked with signing the 23-year-old this summer.

However, according to the Daily Mirror, it is Everton who have made an official bid for Maitland-Niles ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline.

The report states that the Toffees have offered to take the five-cap England international on a season-long loan, with a view to making the move permanent next summer.

Maitland-Niles can also be deployed at right-back and that is reportedly where Rafael Benitez sees him playing at Goodison Park, as he is keen to have a younger alternative to Seamus Coleman.

The 23-year-old made his first Premier League appearance of the season on Saturday as a substitute in Arsenal's 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.
