Bukayo Saka says that he is 'confident' of soon signing a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

Bukayo Saka has said that he is 'confident' of soon signing a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

The 20-year-old made his first-team debut for the Gunners in 2018, and he has now represented the club on 135 occasions in all competitions, contributing 23 goals and 30 assists in the process.

Last season, the England international played 43 times in all competitions at club level, contributing 12 goals and seven assists in the process.

Meanwhile, he has provided one assist in four Premier League appearances this season, with Mikel Arteta's side top of the table courtesy of four wins from as many matches.

Saka's current deal is due to expire in June 2024, but Arsenal boss Arteta recently said that he was "very confident" the youngster would soon pen an extension.

"I'm very confident that we as a club, Bukayo, his family, his agent, everybody, we are very much aligned with what we want to achieve," Arteta told reporters last week. "Now it's about putting it on a piece of paper.

"I would like that to get done because I don't want the player or anybody to be distracted while we are in the middle of the season, but those things take time."

Saka has now revealed that he 'shares Arteta's confidence', with the Englishman suggesting that he will soon sign a new and improved contract in North London.

"Yes, I share his confidence. He knows when to speak to me, it's not too much but it's not too little and the different bits of advice he gives me are special and it makes such a difference.

"I really feel at home here. I really feel the love from my teammates, my coaches and the fans as well. I really feel loved here."

According to the Daily Mail, the proposed new contract would make Saka one of the highest earners at the club, with the deal said to be worth in excess of £140,000 a week.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is said to remain 'a massive fun' of the Englishman, while Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in his services.

Saka also looked ahead to Wednesday's clash with Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium, where the team will be bidding to make it five straight wins at the start of the new Premier League campaign.

"It is a perfect start, we can't say anything other than that but we know how difficult it is and we're definitely focused on Aston Villa now - we need to come back here Wednesday, we are looking forward to playing in front of our fans again and hopefully we can win," he added.

Arsenal will follow the clash against Villa with a trip to Manchester United on Sunday before beginning their 2022-23 Europa League campaign away to FC Zurich on September 8.
