Arsenal 'to take Atletico Madrid defender Javi Manquillo on season-long loan'

Arsenal are reportedly nearing a loan deal for Spanish defender Javi Manquillo.

Arsenal are allegedly closing in on the loan signing of Atletico Madrid defender Javi Manquillo.

The Gunners are keen to recruit the Spaniard on a season-long loan with the option of making the move permanent next summer, the Daily Mail reports.

Manager Arsene Wenger reportedly wants Manquillo to compete with imminent signing Mathieu Debuchy for the right-back position during the new campaign.

The move could force Carl Jenkinson out of the Emirates Stadium, with Newcastle United linked with the defender.
