Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz emerges as a transfer target for Arsenal, according to a report.

Arsenal could reportedly move for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz next year.

The 25-year-old, who has been consistently linked with moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid, has scored 17 goals and registered 12 assists in 137 appearances for Napoli since making the move from Betis in 2018.

A recent report claimed that Real Madrid were planning to move for the Spain international in 2022, but according to football.london, Arsenal have emerged as genuine contenders for his signature.

The Gunners are allegedly planning to move for a new central midfielder in one of the upcoming transfer windows, with head coach Mikel Arteta believing that he is still short in that area of the field.

Ruiz has again been a key player for Napoli at the start of the 2021-22 season, contributing two goals and two assists in nine appearances in all competitions.

The midfielder's contract in Naples is due to expire in June 2023, though, and it remains to be seen whether the Serie A giants can sign him to an extension.
