Arsenal 'confident of Julian Draxler signing'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be "confident" that he can sign Julian Draxler ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be confident of securing the services of Schalke 04's Julian Draxler ahead of Friday's transfer deadline day.

The two clubs were locked in lengthy negotiations regarding the attacking midfielder throughout Wednesday, according to The Mirror.

The Gunners are reportedly willing to shell out £30m for Draxler and almost double his current wages by offering him a lucrative £80,000-per-week contract.

However, Bundesliga outfit Schalke are believed to be holding out for £35m for the player and a formal bid from Arsenal is yet to be made.
