Gervinho has dreamed of a move to Serie A for three seasons after nearly signing for Roma on two previous occasions, according to the player's agent.

Gervinho's agent has declared that his client has the attributes to make a quick impact in Serie A, as the forward awaits official confirmation over a summer switch to Roma.

The Ivory Coast international arrived in the Italian capital on Sunday night for a medical with Roma, after the Giallorossi agreed a fee with Arsenal last weekend.

Pascal Boisseau, the 26-year-old's agent, has said that a move to Serie A has been a long-term ambition for his client, with Roma attempting to land the winger on two previous occasions.

He told Calciomercato.com: "Gervinho had been dreaming of Serie A for at least three years. In the summer of 2010, then-Roma director general Daniele Prade wanted him in the Capital, while the club also made a proposal last year.

"His technical characteristics are unique and because of that much appreciated by several Italian directors. He has a culture of hard work and physicality that I think will make it easy for him to settle into Serie A.

"Rudi Garcia very strongly wanted him. He spoke directly to the player and when I met with the Roma directors it didn't take long to understand this was his big opportunity."

Official confirmation that Gervinho's two-year spell with Arsenal has come to an end is expected in the next 48 hours, allowing the forward to reunite with former coach Garcia at the Olimpico.
