AC Milan reportedly make Jack Wilshere one of their primary transfer targets as talks over a new contract at Arsenal continue to prove fruitless.

AC Milan have reportedly joined the race to sign Jack Wilshere on a free transfer should the midfielder fail to agree an extension with Arsenal before the end of the campaign.

Wilshere's current deal at the Emirates Stadium expires this summer, and negotiations to extend his stay in North London have reached an impasse over the suggestion of a pay cut.

Arsenal are understood to want to slash the 26-year-old's wages by 25% from £120,000 per week to £90,000 due to Wilshere's injury record, but the England international is refusing to accept those terms.

The Gunners are thought to be willing to let Wilshere leave on a free transfer should an agreement not be reached, and The Express reports that Milan have registered their interest.

Wilshere impressed during the first leg of Arsenal's Europa League last-16 tie against Milan at San Siro, leading the Italian giants to make him one of their primary transfer targets.

However, they are expected to face competition from Serie A rivals Juventus and Sampdoria, who are also thought to be interested in taking Wilshere to Italy.
