Arsene Wenger states that he will appeal UEFA's ban and believes that the governing body have gone a "little bit overboard".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will appeal against UEFA's three-match suspension.

The Frenchman was handed the ban and a £33,000 fine following a charge of improper conduct, which is relating to comments made to referee Damir Skomina during the Gunners' Champions League exit to AC Milan earlier this month.

"It is not justified and I will appeal straight away," Wenger said during his pre-match press conference.

"I believe that when you have 25 years' [experience] in Europe you can still ask the referee that you can have some discussion with him. It is very difficult to understand.

"At the moment I have difficulties with UEFA and I can take what is wrong on my side but in these different situations I think they go a little bit overboard if they suspend me."

The 62-year-old will have three days to lodge his appeal once confirmation of the suspension has been sent to him.
