Theo Walcott says Frank Lampard still has "plenty to offer" at international level.

England's Theo Walcott has backed teammate Frank Lampard to make a return to the national side after his future come into question.

The Chelsea midfielder was omitted from Fabio Capello's first eleven for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria, a game which England won 3-0.

Arsenal winger Walcott did start in Sofia and thinks that 33-year-old Lampard still has an international future.

"Frank is an experienced, great player," said Walcott. "Everyone's spot is up for grabs.

"You need to be on your toes and if you're playing well the manager will pick you.

"Frank's got plenty to offer still."

England manager Fabio Capello has recently defended his selection by saying he picks players based on their form, not their "name".
