Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has hinted that his immediate future may still lie in North London.

The Dutchman has been in prolific form so far this campaign and tops the scoring charts with 26 Premier League goals.

Speculation linking the 28-year-old with a move away from the Emirates has been rife, with Manchester City allegedly planning a summer swoop.

However, Van Persie has now said that he is encouraged by the Gunners' recent run of form, which he hopes they can now maintain over the course of a season.

"If you look at the last couple of weeks, we showed we have a lot of character in our side, and we can be proud of that.

"Now we need to show that over a period of a whole year. We need to have a run like that for months and even win the ugly games."

Van Persie joined Arsenal from Dutch side Feyenoord in 2004.
