Niall Quinn: 'Olivier Giroud is key for Arsenal'

Former Arsenal striker Niall Quinn believes that Olivier Giroud will be a big loss for the club if his ankle injury is as bad as first feared.

Former Arsenal striker Niall Quinn has claimed that Olivier Giroud will be a big loss for the club if his ankle injury is as bad as first feared.

The Frenchman could be out of action for up to three months after sustaining the injury in Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday.

Quinn believes that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger cannot afford to lose the striker for an extended period of time.

"Giroud is a very, very important player," he told talkSPORT. "Away from home especially, I love the way he battles for them. He has done so now since he came to the club.

"He doesn't always get the rewards at the end of it, other players sometimes come in for the goals, but he is key."

Wenger has reportedly targeted Loic Remy and Danny Welbeck as potential replacements for Giroud.
