Everton boss David Moyes insists that his side deserved to beat Arsenal after watching the sides draw at Goodison Park.

Everton manager David Moyes has hailed his side's character after watching them come from behind to draw 1-1 with Arsenal.

The Blues boss admitted that both sides played good football, but added that Everton deserved three points.

"It was a good game because we played well and Arsenal played well too. It was a really tight game and two good teams were playing," BBC Sport quotes the Scot as saying.

"When we went down a goal after 50 seconds our players showed great character and we missed some great chances to win it. But we always knew Arsenal were a threat.

"I think we deserved to get the victory but we have struggled to get that second goal in recent weeks."

Moyes went on to say that he believes Everton should have been awarded a late penalty due to a foul on Steven Pienaar.

"I thought we had a really good shout for a penalty kick on Steven Pienaar. It was a night when few decisions went our way," he added.

"We didn't get many things, but the most important thing was Everton played well and Arsenal played well and it was a really good game."

The Toffees manager also revealed that Leighton Baines suffered a hamstring strain in the match, but did not confirm whether he faces a layoff.
