Martin Odegaard has played down discussions that he could become Arsenal's next captain.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the Gunners' current skipper, but has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
Odegaard is only 22 years old but he has already captained the Norwegian national team, while his leadership qualities have been praised by Mikel Arteta and Mohamed Elneny.
According to The Mirror, when asked about the possibility of taking the Arsenal armband, Odegaard said: "It would be a great honour if the opportunity came, but right now I'm focusing on the present and improving the performances of the club."
The midfielder signed a permanent deal with the Gunners this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan from Real Madrid.
Arsenal host Norwich City on Saturday as they look for their first points of the season following three consecutive league defeats.
