Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech "really proud" of clean-sheet record

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech says that he is "really proud" after becoming the Premier League's all-time clean-sheet record holder.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that becoming the Premier League's all-time clean-sheet record holder is a "great personal achievement".

The Gunners' 2-0 win over Bournemouth yesterday means that Cech, 33, now has 170 shut-outs in his 11 years in England, one more than David James's previous record.

"I believe that this is the best league in the world and one of the most difficult leagues to play for a goalkeeper so to have achieved such a record, obviously, it's a great personal achievement so I'm really proud of that," PA quotes the Czech stopper as saying.

"What makes me happy the most, probably, is that these clean sheets so far brought four Premier League trophies, so hopefully we will add clean sheets this season and we will celebrate at the end of the season, because this is far more important.

"I think the most important [thing] was to win the game and obviously once we got the 2-0 lead and it was going towards the end of the game, then, I have to confess that I started thinking about the record and in the last 10 minutes, I was checking the clock."

Yesterday's victory saw Arsenal move to the top of the table, but they will drop back to second if Leicester City overcome Manchester City in tonight's match between second and third.
