Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin thanks 'inspirational' Cesc Fabregas

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin reveals that had Cesc Fabregas not succeeded in North London, he may never have made his own switch from Barcelona in 2011.

Hector Bellerin has described Cesc Fabregas as an "inspiration" who helped pave the way for his own switch from Barcelona to Arsenal.

The Gunners full-back, who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last time out, followed in the footsteps of his Spanish compatriot by swapping Catalonia for North London in 2011.

Bellerin made 20 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions in 2014-15, but he admits that it may never have been possible if not for Fabregas's earlier success at the club.

"Cesc was a big inspiration. To see someone who made the same move and success, for me it was very important to see that happen," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"It was an important move for me, moving away from my family and friends and my city. But to see someone has succeeded as I said was really important and he showed that if you work hard, if you want it enough, you will always have a chance."

Fabregas left Arsenal to rejoin Barcelona in 2011, before making a controversial move to Premier League rivals Chelsea last summer.
