Benoit Assou-Ekotto says that Tottenham Hotspur must stop focussing on Arsenal if they are to earn a Champions League place this season.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has insisted that his side must focus on their own form if they are to achieve Champions League football this year.

Spurs currently sit fourth in the Premier League, seven points ahead of their sixth-placed North London rivals Arsenal.

However, last year the Gunners stormed back from a similar position to pip Spurs to third, but Assou-Ekotto is adamant that his side has to forget about their neighbours.

"I don't care, and I think we shouldn't care about the other teams," Assou-Ekotto told Sky Sports News.

"We have to be focused only on ourselves, and have a target not to lose any games. The point against United might be important at the end of the season."

Spurs travel to face Leeds United in the FA Cup on Sunday.
