Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger backs Olivier Giroud

Arsenal boss backs Olivier Giroud after the striker was booed during France's win over Serbia this week.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he is fully behind Olivier Giroud after the striker was booed while playing for France this week.

The 28-year-old missed a handful of chances in the 2-1 friendly victory over Serbia on Monday, before being jeered off the pitch when replaced by Karim Benzema during the second half.

Wenger has admitted that he sympathises with Giroud, who has netted 10 goals in 39 caps for his country.

"He has my full support and I believe that is part of being a striker," Wenger told Arsenal's official website.

"There is no striker in the world who has not been questioned. When he missed a chance and is booed, that can happen."

Giroud has scored once in five appearances for Arsenal so far this season.
