Reading manager Brian McDermott says that Arsene Wenger has been asking him about Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Arsenal are reportedly chasing Swansea City's on-loan midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Icelandic international, who is contracted to German club Hoffenheim, has impressed for the Swans since his January transfer window switch.

Reading manager Brian McDermott, who was Sigurdsson's manager at Reading, has said that Arsene Wenger has contacted him asking about the 22-year-old.

"I spoke to Arsene about him and you could not tell me he could not play for Arsenal," said McDermott.

Sigurdsson has scored six goals in 11 games for Swansea.
