Arsenal will have to wait until the summer before appointing Marc Overmars as their sporting director, according to a report.
The Gunners are on the lookout for a new transfer chief following the mid-season exit of Sven Mislintat, fresh on the back of chief executive Ivan Gazidis departing for AC Milan.
Roma's director of football Monchi and Overmars, who is currently employed in an identical role by Ajax, are believed to be the two names on Arsenal's radar.
Arsenal wanted to have one of the two men in place before the end of the season, giving the successful candidate a chance to prepare for the summer window, but the Daily Mail claims that they will have to wait another few months if they go for Overmars.
The former Gunners winger is said to have ruled out jumping ship while Ajax are still competing for silverware in the Champions League and Eredivisie.
A separate report suggests that teenage centre-back Matthijs de Ligt could follow Overmars to the Emirates Stadium.
