Arsenal to appoint Roma's Monchi?

Arsenal are reportedly looking to appoint Monchi - who is currently at Roma - as their new technical director.

Arsenal have reportedly identified Monchi as a potential replacement for outgoing head of recruitment Sven Mislintat.

The Gunners only brought in Mislintat in December 2017, but the club recently announced that the 46-year-old would be leaving the Emirates Stadium.

Former winger Marc Overmars has been linked with a return to the North London outfit, but The Independent reports that Roma's Monchi features highly on Arsenal's shortlist.

Monchi has previously worked with Unai Emery at Sevilla, and the Arsenal boss has allegedly been consulted over the possible arrival of the 50-year-old.

Roma are said to be ready for an approach from Arsenal, although Monchi still has just under two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the Italian side.
