Arsenal fans launch petition to ban referee Jon Moss

A group of angry fans launch a petition calling on the FA to ban Jon Moss from refereeing future Arsenal games.

A group of angry fans have launched a petition calling for Jon Moss to be banned from refereeing future Arsenal games.

The Gunners missed the chance to go top of the Premier League on Boxing Day as they were thrashed 4-0 at Southampton, although the validity of three of the goals has been called into question.

Steven Davis appeared to veer offside in the build-up to Cuco Martina's opener - a contender for goal of the season - while Laurent Koscielny was seemingly fouled as Shane Long scored the second and the third resulted from a corner which replays showed should have been given as a goal kick.

In the petition started on the change.org website, the Arsenal fans reasoned: "The problem is that Jonathan moss ( referee ) made many mistakes that cost Arsenal goals during the game against Southampton, there are no punishments given to referees for mistakes like these that cause long term problems and unfair advantages. We are calling for a punishment or ban from Arsenal games for Jonathan moss."

At the time of publication, the petition had attracted 329 signatures in the space of 16 hours.
