Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has urged fans to show respect to Samir Nasri when he returns to the Emirates Stadium with Manchester City for Tuesday's Carling Cup quarter-final.
The Frenchman left the club over the summer after a protracted transfer saga.
"You want to respect the players who have played for us, that is what we expect," Wenger said.
"But it is always more important to support our team on Tuesday night, than to be negative towards the players of Manchester City.
"What is important is we are united to win the game."
Arsenal beat Bolton Wanderers in the last round, while City triumphed over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
