Nigel Winterburn is adamant that Arsenal can reflect on their season as a "success" after ending a nine-year trophy drought to win the FA Cup on Saturday.
Aaron Ramsey struck an extra-time winner as the Gunners battled back from a two-goal deficit to beat Hull City and claim their first piece of silverware since 2005.
Despite leading the Premier League title race for 128 days in total, the North Londoners had to settle for a fourth-placed finish, but Winterburn says that Champions League qualification and an FA Cup title are achievements of a successful campaign.
"It is a success and don't let anyone else tell you differently. Because as a player you set out to win every competition you're in," the Arsenal legend told Perform.
"You start with the Premier League, you go to the Champions League if you're looking to win it, then you go to the FA Cup. But if you win the FA Cup then it's a successful season, along with finishing fourth. Fourth was the achievement, the FA Cup was a success.
"And no-one else should tell you it's not success, because there are a lot of teams out there who would be proud to be lifting the FA Cup."
It was the fifth time that manager Arsene Wenger had won the competition and Arsenal's 11th title overall.
