Ajax head coach Frank de Boer has admitted that he was "very disappointed" with his side's failure to beat Willem II on Saturday afternoon.
Arkadiusz Milik put De Boer's men in front during the first half, but they failed to make the most of numerous other chances and ended up being pegged back by a strike from Ali Messaoud.
Speaking after the final whistle, De Boer told the club's official website: "I think I saw a medium to good Ajax. At one point, we knew what to do with Willem II. We had a grip on the game and gave nothing away.
"Then we were 1-0 up, but we should have been up by three goals at the break. It would have been possible if we had played it out better.
"I'm very disappointed at the result because only one team should have won and that's us."
The result has left Ajax 14 points adrift of Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven.
