Frank de Boer: Celtic used "two buses"

Ajax coach Frank de Boer slams Celtic counterpart Ronny Deila for a perceived negative approach in the 2-2 Europa League draw in Amsterdam.

Frank de Boer has hit out at Celtic's defensive tactics during their 2-2 draw at Ajax, claiming that opposite number Ronny Deila parked "two buses" in Amsterdam.

De Boer's men failed to secure a winning start to their Europa League campaign as the Bhoys led 2-1 at the break, courtesy of goals from Nir Biton and Mikael Lusting, either side of Viktor Fischer's crisp equaliser.

Second-half substitute Lasse Schone struck an 84th-minute equaliser after Emillio Izaguirre saw red in the final quarter, and the Ajax boss admits to being frustrated by the way in which Celtic set their stall out.

"It's always difficult. They parked two buses in front of us," he told reporters. "It was a bit of a false start for us with the early goal for Celtic. The spaces were small and tight. We had great difficulty, but we scored a great goal.

"It's disappointing when you control the game, but then they score another goal. After the break things went better for us. We wanted to see more individual actions. [Anwar] El Ghazi had more pressure on Izaguirre in the second than in the first half.

"They had to make more fouls and we did well after the red card. We were waiting for the equaliser. We have dropped points for sure. You have to win your home games."

The Dutch giants face Excelsior away on Sunday.
