Adelaide United see off Central Coast Mariners

Goals from Marcelo Carrusca and Fabio Ferreira give Adelaide United a 2-0 win over Central Coast Mariners in the A-League.

Adelaide United have beaten Central Coast Mariners 2-0 in the A-League at Hindmarsh Stadium.

The hosts had the better of the first half and took the lead in the 31st minute, with Marcelo Carrusca firing the ball home after the Mariners defence failed to clear Osama Malik's cross.

Adelaide doubled their lead just before the break through Fabio Ferreira, who delivered a clinical finish past Justin Pasfield following good work by Bruce Djite and Carrusca.

Adelaide continued to dominate in the second half, with Ferreira and Carrusca both firing efforts narrowly wide not long after the interval.

Awer Mabil thought that he had scored a third for Adelaide with 13 minutes remaining, but the referee chalked the goal off as the winger was in an offside position when played through by Malik.
