AC Milan have reportedly been in contact with club legend Andriy Shevchenko about taking over from Marco Giampaolo as manager.
Giampaolo was appointed boss of the Rossoneri in the summer but he has had a challenging start, with Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Fiorentina their third consecutive loss and fourth in six league games this season.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that the club's owners have given the former Sampdoria coach one more game - this Saturday's clash with Genoa - to save his job, with Ukrainian striker Shevchenko among their preferred replacements.
The 43-year-old scored 175 goals for Milan in 322 games across two spells that saw him win Serie A and the Champions League and come to be regarded as one of the club's best ever strikers.
Shevchenko has won 16 of his 29 games as Ukraine manager since taking over the job in 2016 and he is currently under contract until next summer's European Championships.
