Mario Balotelli ban reduced on appeal

AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli sees his three-match ban reduced by one game on appeal.

AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has had his three-match ban reduced by one game on appeal.

The Italian picked up a fourth yellow card of the season during Milan's 2-2 draw with Fiorentina at the start of the month before his punishment was increased for insulting a match official at full time.

"AC Milan have challenged the penalty of a three-match suspension imposed on Mario Balotelli after the Fiorentina-Milan game of April 7," read a Serie A statement.

"The appeal has been partially successful and, as a result, the penalty is reduced to two matches with the third disqualification being commuted to a fine of 20,000 euros."

Third-placed Milan return to league action on Sunday when they travel to leaders Juventus.
