France's Ivan Trevejo: 'Experience was key to victory at European Games'

France's Ivan Trevejo believes that his experience was crucial to secure his win over Sergey Khodos in the final of the men's individual epee at the European Games.

France's Ivan Trevejo has said that his experience was key to guiding him to the gold medal in the men's individual epee at the European Games.

The 43-year-old defeated Sergey Khodos of the Russian Federation in the final by a 15-8 scoreline to claim his country's sixth gold medal in Baku.

He told reporters: "I think my experience counted a lot. I felt I played well from the start and my tactics worked.

"This is a great reward for all the support the French federation have given me and for all the support of the team."

Trevejo won a silver medal at the 1996 Olympic Games when representing Cuba.
