Phil Taylor through to World Matchplay semi-finals

Fifteen-time winner Phil Taylor records a 16-8 success over Dave Chisnall to reach the semi-finals of the World Matchplay.

Phil Taylor has reached the World Matchplay semi-finals after an impressive 16-8 win over Dave Chisnall.

The 15-time champion, who has now won 38 matches in a row in Blackpool, powered to an 8-3 advantage over his opponent and never looked back as he targets an eighth successive crown.

A 161 checkout helped Taylor move four legs from a place in the last four, and although Chisnall improved, he never came close to stopping the Stoke-on-Trent thrower, who ended with an average of 102.71.

James Wade will be his opponent in Saturday's semi-final after the 2007 champion held his nerve to advance past Mensur Suljovic.

The Austrian had reached the last eight with wins over Terry Jenkins and Gary Anderson, but from the fifth leg, he was always behind as Wade recorded a 16-11 triumph, finishing the match with an average of 100.2
