Argos-Shimano rider Marcel Kittel has won a dramatic opening stage of the 100th Tour de France.
However, all riders have been given the same time following confusion at the finish line.
There were chaotic scenes near the end of the 213km race from Porto-Vecchio to Bastia after the Orica-GreenEDGE team bus became wedged under the finishing structure.
Organisers made a decision to cut 3km off the scheduled distance before the bus was removed and normal service was resumed.
The race itself was marked by two crashes, including a large collision in the final 5km that took out Peter Sagan, Mark Cavendish and Matt Goss.
Katusha's Alexander Kristoff looked to be heading over the finish line in first place before Kittel edged ahead to claim the win in what was a frantic end to the afternoon.
