Chris Froome has revealed that he is delighted to have clinched the Tour de France title for the second time in his career.
The 30-year-old confirmed his championship win by completing the final stage of the competition in Paris without incident to finish ahead of Colombia's Nairo Quintana and Spain's Alejandro Valverde.
The Briton also praised his Team Sky teammates for their support throughout the competition after crossing the finish line arm-in-arm with his colleagues.
Froome said at the podium: "Of course, I want to start off by thanking my teammates. Without you guys, I would not be standing up here. Richie, Wout, Ian, G, Pete, Luke, Nico and Leo - my utmost respect and gratitude. This is your yellow jersey as much as it is mine.
"The maillot jaune is special. I understand its history - good and bad. I will always respect it, never dishonour it, and I will always be proud to have won it."
Froome is the first Briton to clinch the Tour de France twice following his first victory in 2013.
