Team GB have announced that Geraint Thomas will represent his country in the time trial at the Rio Olympics.
A number of competitors withdrew from the event having crashed out in a dramatic men's road race on Saturday, leaving space open for Thomas to be included.
The 30-year-old also crashed during his first event, but insists that he is ready to race again on Wednesday having recovered to finish 11th at the weekend.
"Whilst I'm thrilled to represent my country in a second event in Rio, the circumstances surrounding my inclusion are unfortunate and I'd like to wish all those who withdrew through injury a quick recovery," Thomas said in a statement.
"I lost quite a lot of skin in my crash and my hip took a pretty big knock, but other than that my legs are feeling good and I'm looking forward to racing again on Wednesday."
Thomas will ride alongside teammate and three-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome in Pontal.
