The two-time winner will be supported by Welsh riders Geraint Thomas and Luke Rowe, who will be the road captain in the nine-strong squad, while fellow Briton Ian Stannard is also named.

Froome and his British compatriots will be joined on the Mont-Sant-Michel start line by Sergio Henao, Vasil Kiryienka, Mikel Landa, Mikel Nieve, and Wout Poels.

The race gets going on Saturday July 2, ending on July 24 in Paris, with Froome having secured his third Criterium du Dauphine earlier this month.
