Sir Chris Hoy has hit back at French accusations that Team GB have cheated their way to success.
Hoy won the sixth Olympic gold medal of his glittering career on Tuesday night with triumph in the men's keirin.
That result meant that Great Britain had won seven of the 10 track cycling events at London 2012.
Rivals have questioned the legality of the technology used by the British. French newspaper l'Equipe even hosted a poll, titled: "Are the British cycling performances stained by cheating?"
Hoy attributes his team's success to dedication and he suggests that France should focus on improving their own performances, rather than complaining.
"If other teams want to progress they should look in the mirror and think about what they are doing wrong," said Hoy, 36. "They can't keep looking at what we are doing. They should be thinking about their own preparations and the way they perform.
"It is difficult for any team when you work for four years and then you get destroyed by another country. I know it is demoralising because it has happened to us in other years.
"But there is nothing we do in Britain that is massively different to anyone else. If someone else wants to do what we are doing, feel free. It is just that everyone in our team tries to be the best in the world."
Hoy's impressive tally of gold medals make him the most successful British Olympian of all time.
