Olympic cycling champion Bradley Wiggins has said that he is willing to fund a British women's cycling team.
The Tour de France winner described female cyclists as the sport's "forgotten ones" and pledged his support to them.
"We're at a time where we have so many world-class girls that they should be a team now," he told BBC Sport.
When asked if he would be willing to provide financial backing to such a venture, Wiggins responded: "I would like to do that. I've have no idea what it would cost, but it would be something I'd be willing to put my own money into.
"It would be all or nothing. I wouldn't want to just do a thrup'ney, hap'ney team. It would have to be a full-on team."
Wiggins was this week named in the Great Britain team for the UCI Road World Championships, along with Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish.
