Pakistan have sent Mohammad Hafeez for remedial work on his action after it was adjudged to be illegal by the International Cricket Council.
The off-spinning all-rounder was reported during a Test match against New Zealand last month and breached limits on elbow extension in subsequent tests.
Both he and Saeed Ajmal, who is in a similar position, have been named in Pakistan's provisional 30-man World Cup squad, but must have their remodelled actions cleared before the final January 7 deadline if they are to make the tournament.
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan hopes that another ICC test can be conducted before that date, and has pulled Hafeez from the one-day international series with the Kiwis, which has four matches remaining, to speed up the process.
He told reporters: "We have decided to withdraw Hafeez from the one-day series against New Zealand and he will go to Chennai for unofficial tests and some remedial work."
Hafeez, 34, has taken 122 wickets at an average of 35.02 in 150 ODIs since making his debut in 2003.
