Paul Shaw to step down as England women's head of performance

Paul Shaw will step down as England women's head of performance at the end of the year.

England women are seeking a new coach following confirmation that Paul Shaw is stepping down as the team's head of performance.

The 48-year-old's role will be phased out by the end of the year following the national team's summer's 10-6 Ashes defeat to Australia.

"The women's game is now fully professional and is in a different place to when Paul was appointed," said Clare Connor, the ECB's head of women's cricket.

"The decision to move back to a more traditional coaching structure, led by one overarching head coach, is what we believe is now needed to take the players to the next level in their development as professional cricketers."

England women are now aiming to appoint a new specialist head coach as part of an extensive backroom reshuffle.
