England turn to Paul Collingwood, Mahela Jayawardene

Paul Collingwood and Mahela Jayawardene will take up coaching roles with England this winter.

The ECB has confirmed that Paul Collingwood and Mahela Jayawardene will both join the England management team in consultancy roles this winter.

Collingwood, who made 68 Test appearances for England, will work with the limited-overs squads in the UAE and at next year's World T20 Cup.

Meanwhile, former Sri Lanka international Jayawardene has been hired as a batting coach and he will be with the Test side for the first part of their tour to the UAE, where they will face Pakistan.

"We are delighted that Mahela and Paul will be joining the England management team, supporting our existing specialist coaches in this area," said director of England cricket Andrew Strauss.

"Both will bring a vast wealth of cricketing knowledge and expertise to the team, and in Mahela's case, extensive experience of batting in the subcontinent which will be invaluable as part of our wider preparations for the UAE tour."

Earlier today, the ECB announced a 16-man party for the forthcoming three-Test series.
