Ross Taylor's unbeaten 105 played a big part in New Zealand's first-innings score of 247-6 in the first one-day international against Pakistan.
Pakistan won the toss and chose to field in Dubai and took their first wicket in the sixth over when Mohammad Irfan removed Dean Brownlie for 14.
Irfan would take two further wickets to be Pakistan's top bowler, but, like his teammates, was unable to remove Taylor.
The 30-year-old was the only man to get anywhere near three figures for the Black Caps as his teammates all struggled with the bat.
Daniel Vettori was the next-best with 27, and he and Taylor put on a 58-run seventh-wicket stand to carry New Zealand into the 200s.
Taylor reached his century in the final over and finished the innings off with a four, his 10th boundary of the innings.
