New Zealand have opened up a lead of 286 runs over Pakistan as they reached 637-8 at stumps on the third day of their third Test in Sharjah.
Resuming at 488-3 after tea, the tourists sought to pile on the runs in the evening session, but Ross Taylor was back in the pavilion just a couple of overs after play got back underway.
Kane Williamson followed a few balls later having been unable to add to his total from the afternoon, leaving him eight runs short of a double century.
Rahat Ali, who claimed Williamson's wicket, continued to cause problems for the New Zealand batsmen, as Yasir Shah caught Corey Anderson (50) off an Ali delivery before Daniel Vettori was trapped lbw for 15.
The tourists showed some resilience late on though as Tim Southee hit a half-century, before being dismissed with the final ball of the day by Shah, while Mark Craig will resume on 34 tomorrow.
