New Zealand have taken control of the second Test against Pakistan at the close of play on day two in Dubai.
The Black Caps were bowled out for 403 in the final session before an impressive spell with the ball saw them reduce Pakistan to 34-2 at stumps.
Tail-enders Tim Southee (17) and Trent Boult (two) did little damage with the bat for New Zealand after tea, but Ish Sodhi ended with an impressive knock of 32 not out.
Pakistan's time at the crease started badly when opener Shan Masood was dismissed by Sodhi for 13 in the 15th over, and it got worse before the close of play as Taufeeq Umar (16) was stumped by BJ Watling off the bowling of Mark Craig.
Azhar Ali (four not out) and Younis Khan (one not out) will start out in the middle when play gets back underway on Wednesday.
