India opener Shikhar Dhawan has stunned Australia with the quickest century on debut in Test cricket history.
The 27-year-old, whose only experience of international cricket is five one-day matches and one Twenty20 game, scored 21 fours as he raced to three figures in 85 balls.
Replying to Australia's 408, Dhawan soon went on the attack alongside opening partner Murali Vijay to bring up India's hundred inside 22 overs.
Dhawan's onslaught continued and rather than negotiate himself safely to the milestone, he hit the ball through the slip cordon before a quick single brought up his century.
The left-hander moved to 106 before tea, while Vijay is unbeaten on 42, as India reached 156-0.
