Sri Lanka lead England 182-5 at tea on the first day of the second Test at Headingley.
The first session saw England take two wickets to trail 74-2, with Sri Lanka pair Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene guiding the visitors to the lunch break on 15 and five runs respectively.
Sangakkara continued that form in the second session, with the 36-year-old reaching the break on 67 from 130 balls, having made 51 of his team's 108 runs since lunch.
However, Liam Plunkett took two wickets in two deliveries for England, with Chris Jordan catching from Jayawardene, before a short ball from the Yorkshire paceman was fended straight into Sam Robson by Lahiru Thirimanne.
Sangakaara has now scored at least a half-century in his last six innings.
