Report: James Taylor expected to lead England in Ireland

England are expected to announce that James Taylor will be captain for their one-day game with Ireland in Dublin, according to reports.

England batsman James Taylor will reportedly be named captain when they return to 50-over cricket against Ireland next week.

England suffered a miserable Cricket World Cup and failed to progress past the group stage, which has led to calls for a reform in how they approach the one-day game.

An inexperienced squad is expected to be named for the one-off match in Dublin, and The Guardian reports that Taylor will be given the captaincy over Eoin Morgan, who isn't expected to play.

Morgan is currently playing in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Taylor has experience of captaining the England Lions, while he enjoyed a good World Cup despite England's woes.

The likes of Jason Roy, Alex Hales and Sam Billings are expected to receive call-ups.
