England director Andrew Strauss confirms Ben Stokes has broken hand

England director Andrew Strauss confirms that Ben Stokes suffered a minor fracture on his hand following Monday night's altercation, but should be fit for the Ashes.

England director Andrew Strauss has confirmed that Ben Stokes suffered a broken hand during an altercation outside a nightclub in Bristol on Monday.

The all-rounder has a minor fracture of a finger on his right hand and will undergo further tests, but is expected to be fit for the Ashes series in November.

Stokes was arrested by police in the early hours of Monday morning following the incident, which left another man requiring hospital treatment for facial injuries.

The cricketer has not been charged but remains under investigation and as a result will miss today's one-day international against the West Indies.

Alex Hales, who was also at the scene in Bristol, will not feature at the Oval after voluntarily offering to help police with their enquiries.
