Jason Gillespie confirms he has held talks about becoming England head coach

Jason Gillespie confirms that he has spoken to the ECB's Andrew Strauss about potentially becoming England's new head coach.

Jason Gillespie has confirmed that he and the ECB have held talks about him possibly becoming the new head coach of England.

The Australian, who is currently the coach of county side Yorkshire, has been an early frontrunner for the role following the sacking of Peter Moores earlier this month.

On Friday, Gillespie, who took 259 wickets in 71 Tests for Australia in his playing career, confirmed that he has had a face-to-face meeting with newly-appointed director of England cricket Andrew Strauss.

"[The ECB is] chatting to a number of people of interest and they'll let us know," Gillespie told Sky Sports News.

England face a crucial summer as they are currently involved in a two-Test series against New Zealand and will try to win back The Ashes in July.
