England limited-overs coach Ashley Giles has expressed his belief that Jos Buttler will make the breakthrough to Test cricket.
Buttler hit 47 off 16 balls to help England to a 34-run win over New Zealand in their third one-day international at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.
Giles has said that Buttler has the ability to perform in the Test arena.
"I think he can do it over a longer period," Giles told Sky Sports News. "I think what Jos needed was to do it once in 50-over cricket.
"It doesn't mean he's going to do it all the time - but in Twenty20 cricket, once he crossed that hurdle, he looked a different player. I'm hoping that will happen again."
Buttler is expected to feature when England open their ICC Champions Trophy campaign against Australia at Edgbaston on Saturday.
